Using MacOS in Windows

Posted by Elvin on March 29, 2010

For most of the people out there, Macbooks or iMacs are just hard to afford. With the minimum price of RM3000+ ranging up to RM10000, normal users would prefer not to get ‘Mac’-ed. However, some of the users out there would really try on Mac OS which is only for Macs.

There are several cracked version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard out in the internet where people can download it and installing Mac OS to regular PCs or laptops in the market. I’ve personally tried out one version of it, everything was ok but the wireless adapter isn’t working as it should be.

Anyway, now you can use Mac OS in windows environment. It’s actually tweaking your windows to make it look like Mac OS. I found this video showing how to tweak your window 7 and make it look like Mac OS.

You will have the visual of Mac OS but you will never feel the real Mac OS usage. So if you really want to try out Mac OS, check out the nearest Apple Store or authorized Apple Store, try out the demo set before getting serious into being ‘Mac’-ed.

Top 5 Free Antivirus Software

Posted by Elvin on December 28, 2009

Ha! It’s the time for me to contribute. For this post, I will be listing a few of the free antivirus software you can download and use it without any cost for life. Some people would just pay for their computer security, but there are people who have smaller pocket openings which are hard to reach in (like me) and maybe some of them think that it’s unnecessary to get one.

Now, there are many different free antivirus software available in the internet now, providing the basic function for prevention against virus, malware, spyware or more. Here’s the list,

BitDefender

BitDefender is one of the few top antivirus softwares in the world. Now there is a free edition for it which provides the basic security function of an antivirus softwares. However, if you are always on the internet, it’s not really sufficient, as what have been said in the website. A year ago, I’ve used the paid version of BitDefender and I really liked it. It went smooth but updating the database was the problem.

AVG Antivirus

AVG antivirus free edition is now on top of the most downloaded free antivirus software in some of the few websites such as download.com. It’s on top of the list for a reason. Not only it’s free, it’s also a reliable antivirus software. If this is not sufficient for you, you can try out the not-free antivirus or internet security version for 30 days before you buy it.

Avira Antivirus

Ah! This is my personal favorite and I’ve used this antivirus for quite awhile now. Avira antivir personal comes second after AVG as the second most downloaded antivirus. Unlike most of the antivirus softwares, Avira doesn’t slow down your computers. User’s can easily operate the antivirus with the clean and user friendly interface. However, I hate all those advertisements that appear when your computer is online, but who cares right? It’s free and reliable.

Avast Antivirus

Avast home edition is one of the popular free antivirus for home users. It provide all the basic antivirus and antispyware. However, you might need to consider upgrading it to the professional edition for internet and business purposes. Avast antivirus doesn’t consume much of your computer resources thus not slowing down your computer.

Rising Antivirus

Rising Antivirus may not be popular and not much of you ever heard of this antivirus before. I only knew about it this year. I’ve tried it but not for long. The interface for this antivirus is nice and this is a strong antivirus. Received quite a good rating from most of the users.

Those antivirus softwares above are all free for life and compatible with most of the operating system including the latest window 7. There are more free antivirus softwares out there that I’ve not mention, perhaps you could share some with me?

Free edition antivirus softwares might not be better than the paid antivirus software but at least you can have the basic computer security in your computer rather than leaving it exposed to threads. Enjoy!
