Posted by Elvin on April 4, 2010

If iPads are too expensive for you, there’s a cheaper way to get an iPad-alike gadget. If you own an iPod touch or iPhone, Pad Dock is what you need. Pad Dock allows you to turn your iPod touch or iPhone into iPad. Therefore, you will not have to purchase another iPad if you already own either an iPod or iPhone.

Pad Dock uses a touch-screen magnifier, your iPhone screen is enlarged to the exact dimensions of an iPad. The interface might be differ from the real iPad, but the features of an iPad introduced by Apple is more or less the same as an iPhone. So, why not just enlarge your iPhone? You can even make calls using Pad Dock with iPhone in it.

All you have to do is plug in your iPhone or iPod and you’re ready to go. A full charge can get you entertain up to 22 hours with Pad Dock. After that, you can just charge it anywhere with either an usb charger adapter or a standard wall plug. So if your thinking of getting one, Pad Dock is available with a price of £89.99 about $135 at IWOOT.

iPad or No iPad

Posted by Elvin on April 4, 2010

iPad is now a hot topic over the internet, with websites previewing and reviewing iPads over and over again. Tons and tons of apps reviewing, various accessories for iPad to be named and many more. You can read, write, surf, view, watch and listen with iPad. So, is iPad the thing for you?

iPad allows you to browse through websites, write blogs or emails,  read books, watch movies or even flipping through photos in a big screen, with only a touch of your finger. How I wish I can have iPad and enjoy my time in the toilet. Currently, iPad has over 150,000 apps available in App store. With iPad, you can use apps downloaded for iPhones and iPod.

The drawback? For a thing that price, it’s hard to imagine it without a camera. Therefore, if you go online, means no video calls to your friends. Then, iPad was not made for supporting flash. You can’t be enjoying Facebook Farmville or Barn Buddy with iPad I guess. Some said that iPad is just an over-sized iPod touch. So, if those ain’t a problem for you, why not right? Apple is now working on a second generation iPad. Hopefully everything will be cover by then.

Price for iPad with wifi range from $499 to $699 and iPad with wifi+3G range from $629 to $829. The basic 16GB iPad with wifi has the same price as a netbook in the market. You might rather get a netbook. However, you will be experiencing a whole new way of using ‘computers’ with the iPad.

For me, iPad ain’t my thing, but I would be going for an iPod touch though. So, if you had the money, would you be going for an iPad? or you would rather be buying a new netbook?

Toys For Kids

Posted by Elvin on March 13, 2010

Looking at what kids are playing nowadays remind me about what kids my age were playing. Things were so much different from now. When I was young, things I was playing are all simple yet fun. Things such as…

kites or throwing marbles

and if you’re lucky enough, you get to play this

Sega game console

but toys are much more different nowadays. Since the advancement of technology over 20 years, kids nowadays experience greater fun with toys created. You won’t be seeing kids playing marbles at parks anymore. Kids would be spending most of their time at home playing.

Most of the kids now have at least a

Sony psp

or

Nintendo DS

See the difference? Kids nowadays get to play toys such as above instead of flying kites or throwing marbles. So, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Do you Poken?

Posted by Elvin on February 26, 2010

Do you poken? Nowadays, there’s this ’social business card’ device which let us easily share our facebook, twitter or even our email.

When you meet a long-no-see friend outside, what would you do to get their contacts or facebook or twitter? For me, I would just take out my phone and save their emails, which takes time. Now there is poken, all you need to do is

High 5 your Poken with your friend’s Poken

When you get home, plug the poken into your computer and you will have the contact of the friend you high-5-ed. Easy huh? Not only that, poken comes with various designs. You got different cute character poken such as ninja, panda and more. If those pokens are too cute for you, there’s also poken which is designed for business purposes.

I’ve check out lowyat, a Poken cost around Rm80- Rm90. I thought of getting myself a poken. Since it’s the tiger year, I think I should get a Tiger poken.

but…do I have anyone to poken with?

I want BlackBerry Storm!

Posted by Elvin on February 21, 2010

The storm is ahead! I don’t mean storm warriors though, I mean the new BlackBerry® Storm™ 9520. Hohoho, thanks to Celcom, we can now buy and use it at a damn low price unlike the operator H for iphone. The rates are superb and amazing, even a little poor student like me can afford it..

Why I want BlackBerry® Storm™ 9520? The reasons are simple. You go east, you see Iphones and Nokias, you go west, also Iphones and Nokias. Aren’t you bored with it? That is why I want BlackBerry® Storm™ 9520 instead of all the other smartphones and iphones available.. or maybe I just can’t afford any iphone =D

Anyway, another reason is about the design. Where can you find ‘yeng’(cool) and ‘geng’(powerful) smartphones nowadays? BlackBerry® Storm™ 9520 is what you need. BlackBerry Bold™ and BlackBerry Curve™ were also nice but I prefer touchscreen instead of qwerty keyboard. Plus! BlackBerry® Storm™ 9520 touchscreen doesn’t sense heat, it sense pressure, which is better for me because my big butt generate heats all the time. lol!

If you are looking for it, head on to Celcom! Why Celcom would be the best Storm-tastic place to get a BlackBerry® Storm™ 9520? Because of the crazy rates! What do you think of when you are to choose an phone operator? The rates offered of cause. As low as rm1 per day for unlimited access to social media application and rm2.50 per day for unlimited access to surfing the net! How low is that?! Fuck yeah, gonna get my own blackberry from Celcom even I don’t win this..!  but better win lah….LOL Hope I can get this big Ang Pow for this new Tiger year! roar

Monthly Magazine

Posted by Elvin on January 11, 2010

It was and always very boring when there is nothing to do in the hostel. Since I don’t play games anymore (yes, I don’t, don’t doubt me), reading makes it all better. However, reading books is like eating sleeping pills to me. Instead of books, I enjoy reading magazines and blogs. Therefore, on a monthly basis, I would head down to the nearest MPH to get my monthly dose of must-read magazines.

Dontcha wish your girlfriend was hot like her?

Yes, since I’m a geek, magazines I read are usually related with technology. Owh! yes, I know I know, I can just download e-magazines and read. One point that I prefer buying Malaysia-written magazines is all those gadgets and technology are all AVALIABLE in Malaysia which I will have no problem getting it except for money matters. All those e-magazines are all from USA or someplace else.

My list of must-read mags:

Chip -RM9.90

My favorite magazine, talks about technologies, tutorials, stuff. The best Malaysia Magazine? Maybe, but the bad thing about chip is that I only can get it on mid of the month, not early of the month.

Stuff -RM8.00

This is my favorite gadget magazine, reviews on trends, games, gadgets and stuff. The only bad thing about Stuff is, I don’t have all the money for all those things I saw inside. It itch me alot.

T3 -RM7.00

T3 by velocity media. This is the other gadget magazine, similar to Stuff but less to give. Cheaper however, would go for if I have extra pocket money.

Max IT -RM7. 00

MaxIT by velocity media, talks about technology, giving tutorials and so on. I don’t really like MaxIT so I wouldn’t recommend it to you all because content quality isn’t really what I’m expecting for (maybe I’m expecting too much). However, simple English is the thing where you can just understand everything in it =D

Digital Camera -RM9.00

I just bought this starting this month. Another magazine by velocity media. Found it nice with all those cameras and tutorials. Hopefully I will get my very own DSLR or semi- DSRL by this year so I can try every tutorial there is =D

Since this happens on monthly basis, it kinda shrink down my pocket size. I need to cut down on those magazines. Hopefully I earn more in Google Adsense then only I will have money for magazines or gadgets!
